live music meme
I still haven't done the middle name meme, because I don't think there's a huge interest out there in five adjectives that describe me. Okay here - Loyal, Offbeat, Understanding, Intuitive, Sociable, Emotional - killed two birds with one post.
Now, like Anonymous Coworker, wrote, "I like to read about what music other people are into, and I like to share what music I’m into." This was a tricky one, my full list would be longer than I thought (largely courtesy of the few festivals I've been to where there have been a dozen to three dozen performers over a day or two.) I put in whatever came to mind, some favorite shows, some bands I've seen more than once, and some bands that others may be more likely to have on their list. It's a sample, not completely representative of my musical tastes. There have been quite a few bands that I don't love that I've seen live for one reason or another, and at the same time many bands that I do love I have not been able to see live.
Here’s the meme, courtesy of the Slender Reed, by way of Anonymous Coworker.
Copy this list, leave in the bands you’ve seen perform live, delete the ones you haven’t, and add new ones that you have seen until you reach 25. An asterisk means the previous person had it on their list. Two asterisks means the last two people who did this before you had that band on their list, etc.
Here’s my list (in no particular order). Play along if you like, and let me know if you do.

4. Joshua Radin & Schuyler Fisk

Yes! Bob Dylan lives on!
We've all got Dylan. Walkmen, though, I forgot them, they were good too.
And Danielle, thanks for doing the middle name thing: now I don't have to! Didn't you hate that name when you were a kid? Too many vowels, hard to spell! Plus they gave it to me because it was my aunt's name, and she was a bitch.
acw - Bonus concert anecdote: I saw Bob Dylan with Willie Nelson at the Bowie Baysox Stadium. I liked Willie Nelson a lot more than Bob Dylan and it took me a nightmarish 3 hours to get to Bowie where I was meeting friends coming from Annapolis. My car almost overheated. I have never driven to Bowie again!
p dog - Louise is your middle name, too? I really like the name now. It's also my aunt's middle name and was my grandmother's middle name. They aren't/weren't so bitchy though. :)
Dylan will be at Merriweather (Elvis Costello opens) in one week! Guess who is goin?
I couldn't do that list. I'm not a big "live in concert" person and I've only bothered to see a handful of artists. Hmmm, let's see: Reba McEntire, Faith Hill, John Michael Montgomery (the last two opened for Reebs), Live, and I think that's it. Oh, duh, Garth. How could I forget Garth? If I threw in the handful of Broadway shows and stand-up comedians I've seen, I could up that list to two hands (Sweeney Todd, Company - twice, plus Evil Dead the Musical off Broadway, the Producers in LA, Hairspray here in Bawlmer, Avenue Q in London, and Margaret Cho in Riverside, CA. I also saw Adam Sandler and George Carlin - separately - but was kind of bored.
a.g. - glad to see you're still around and now v. 2.0! :)
john - really? not a live in concert person? i think if i won the lottery, i'd devote a big chunk of my winnings to concerts, but you have me beat on the broadway shows.
I love Donavon Frankenreiter! wooo!
